The starting point: clothing as armor. The material captures light, holds it, reflects it. It is within this tension that the image is constructed. I worked with hard, directional light that carves out planes, hollows out shadows and gives volume to what could otherwise remain flat.

The understated background is not a lack, it is a decision. Everything that is not essential disappears to let the fur, the gaze and the management of blacks do the work. These images stand at the crossroads of portraiture and editorial, between personal research on light and assertion of a strong visual universe.
